| The Aquatic and Fitness Center, located at 2700 A Street, is a 10,500 square foot state-of-the-art fitness center equipped with pool and spa, exercise room, clinic, and therapy room. The Center has various types of exercise equipment and programs. Our programs facilitate staying active and managing better health, maintaining independent living, functional fitness at all levels, social stimulation and support, and enhancing the quality of life.
Arthritis friendly pool programs, varying levels of aerobic intensity classes, strength and balance exercises, and flexibility/range of motion exercises are conducted in our beautiful state of the art indoor pool. Hillcrest also provides handicap lift access to the pool and spa with a commercial pool lift.
Our fitness center is equipped with the latest in treadmills, Nu-Step recumbent steppers and other equipment to enhance the cardiovascular fitness program. The resistance/strength training and cardiovascular conditioning programs offer use of the equipment, free weights and use of stability balls. We also offer one-on-one guidance for special needs residents.
Classes are available through video programming and led by instructors. Tai Chi and Yoga are wonderful for increasing strength, coordination, improving balance and enhancing mental acuity. The Chair Dance program is designed to improve circulation and address joint range of motion and overall flexibility. Specialty class offerings include yoga-based Stretch & Flex, our Better Balance program to improve balance and posture, and Core Mat classes specifically targeting the muscles of the trunk.
Programs and classes include a preemptory Personal Fitness Evaluation conducted by our Wellness Director, followed by tailor-made exercise program recommendations to each resident. |
